About ONJA
ONJA – Small Waves, Big Dreams is a youth-led association that aims to make swimming, safety, and sport accessible to children across Madagascar.
Our Story
ONJA was created by two sisters, Océane and Inès, who grew up with a deep love for swimming and a strong connection to Madagascar. They realized that many children on the island live close to the ocean but never have the chance to learn how to swim safely.
ONJA was born from a simple idea: if swimming can open doors, build confidence, and create opportunities for them, it can do the same for other Malagasy children.

Vision
To give every child in Madagascar the chance to learn, grow, and dream through swimming — turning the island’s natural bond with the ocean into confidence, opportunity, and national pride.
Mission
ONJA empowers children by providing access to swimming education, water safety, talent development, and educational opportunities, with a strong focus on inclusion and gender equality.
