Our Programs
ONJA turns access to water into safety, confidence, and opportunity through four core programs designed for Malagasy children and communities.
Learn to Swim
Many children in Madagascar live near rivers, lakes, and the ocean, but never learn how to swim. ONJA’s Learn to Swim program focuses on safety, joy, and basic skills in the water.
- Community swim lessons in safe, shallow environments
- Water safety and drowning prevention education
- Beginner skills: floating, breathing, kicking, coordination
- Group sessions designed to build confidence and trust

Talent Development
Some children discover a deep passion and natural ability in swimming. ONJA’s Talent Development program exists to support these future athletes.
- Regular training sessions with qualified coaches
- Access to better facilities whenever possible
- Local competitions and events to build experience
- Mentoring on mindset, discipline, and resilience
Education & Scholarships
Sport can open doors to education. ONJA helps connect strong students and athletes with opportunities for academic and athletic scholarships.
- Guidance on school and scholarship applications
- Support academic preparation where needed
- Links with partner schools, universities, and foundations
- Mentorship on balancing sport, school, and personal growth

Coaches & Training
Long-term impact depends on strong local leadership. ONJA supports Malagasy coaches, teachers, and volunteers to build a sustainable swimming culture.
- Workshops with local and international coaches
- Training in safety, teaching methods, and youth development
- Creation of community “swim champions” to lead local sessions
- Online and in-person knowledge sharing
